Boreal Ski Resort, located west of Truckee on I80, claims to be Northern California's most affordable skiing, snowboarding area. The non-discounted rates at Boreal are as follows: Adult: $47 (holiday $54); Teen (13-18): $39; and Child (5-12): $15. Here are a few secrets to finding discounts on ski lift tickets at Boreal.

The following discount vouchers are available, in-store, at all Raley's, Bel Air and Nob Hill locations. Discount offers are:

$5 OFF - All Day Kids Lift Ticket. Ages 5-12, regular rate $15. Valid 2009/10 Season only. Good any day. One coupon per person. Must have coupon to receive discount.
50% OFF - Half Day Kids Club Learn To Ski/Snowboard Program. Offered Sunday-Friday, non-holiday ages 4-10, regular rate $70. Not valid holidays: Nov. 26-29 / Dec. 25 - Jan. 2, 2010 / Jan. 16-18, 2010 / Feb 13-15, 2010. One coupon per person. Must have coupon to receive discount. Valid 2009/10 season only.
Buy 1 ski pass, get 1 free - Starting December 14, 2009 - March 1, 2010.
Purchase $50 or more in groceries and receive a “buy 1 ski pass, get 1 free” voucher. Redeemable only at Boreal Ski Resort.

Right at the ski area, Boreal offers a 'Parent Shared Ticket' that allows adults to share a single pass. With this ticket, both parents can ski without paying for two lift tickets. While one parent plays with the kids that don't ski, the other parent uses the ticket to ski or ride. If you do choose to bring your child, ages 5 and younger with you on the slopes, kids this age ski and board free at Boreal.

College students, sweat your exams but don’t sweat your lift ticket fees, ride Friday’s at Boreal with your college student i.d. for just $15.

Members of the Armed Forces - Check with your Outdoor Recreation Office for discounted lift tickets. Boreal also offers $15 lift tickets on Fridays for all active military with a valid i.d. Holiday restrictions include 11/27/09, 12/25/09 and 1/1/10.
